GEG 2024 - Requirements for the system technology

17.04.2024

Lecture: GEG 2024 - Requirements for the system technology when replacing the heat generator - theory and practice

Speaker: M.Sc. Martin Kleegraf, IMI Hydronic Engineering Deutschland GmbH

The Building Energy Act (GEG) requires the majority of existing buildings in Germany to be refurbished, as the heating of buildings should be climate-neutral in the future. There are minimum requirements, refurbishment deadlines and also funding opportunities. In view of this complexity, many property owners and system operators are asking themselves the question of feasibility and cost-effectiveness. The seminar shows both the requirements and possible solutions. We also present an overview of the funding options.

Topics:

  •     The current GEG 2024
        - Requirements when replacing a heat generator, transition periods
        - Obligation to optimize existing systems

  • Funding opportunities and requirements
    - New federal funding, efficient buildings, from 2024

  • Examples of implementation
    - Use of heat pumps, solar thermal energy, local and district heating
    - Hydraulic integration of new heat generators in existing systems
  • Simple, efficient hydronic balancing of the old system
    - in two-pipe systems
    - in single-pipe systems (incl. design example)
  • Hydraulic balancing with the IMI Heimeier "EasyPlan" software.
  • Proof of hydronic balancing in accordance with VdZ procedure B, including the necessary documentation.
