New building family center

Detailed design and site supervision for a family center with kindergarten and day nursery in sustainable timber frame construction
A new family center with a kindergarten and crèche in sustainable timber frame construction was planned for the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Paulus in Burgdorf on a plot of land on the northeastern edge of the town. The center is divided into three single-story buildings with hipped roofs, which are connected by a single-story structure. The foyer and the access zones of the three buildings are housed in the structure. The three building volumes are structured according to the same scheme. In the center of each structure is a spacious room that is naturally lit by a skylight at the ridge of the hip roof. The individual care and counseling rooms are arranged around this central space. The outdoor play areas are generously dimensioned and invite children to play outside. CANZLER provided execution planning and site supervision for the project and advised the client on the sustainable design of the building ensemble. In addition to sustainable construction as a timber frame, a photovoltaic system on the flat roof of the wing generates sufficient solar energy to meet basic electricity needs.
