FestSpielHaus - Theatre School and Workshop

Planning and construction supervision of the installation of new ventilation, heating and sanitary technology in the existing building for a theatre with workshops, offices and gastronomy.
The FestSpielHaus is a cultural and educational institution of the City of Munich and is run by the Stadtjugendamt/Jugendkulturwerk. For the new venue of the institution, which was founded in 1970 in Neuperlach, the combined heat and power plant of the former US housing estate along Rosenheimer Straße in Munich-Ramersdorf was converted into a multifunctional cultural meeting place with theatre, workshops, offices, and gastronomy. CANZLER planned the ventilation, heating and sanitary systems required for the conversion. The integration into the special building was challenging, because above the boiler house was the former coal bunker as a massive concrete structure. After the conversion, the theatre hall with gallery, a restaurant with bar area and kitchen are available on the ground floor. The children's theatre is located on the first floor. The rehearsal stage, offices and dressing rooms are on the remaining floors. The basement houses technical equipment, storage, and workshops.
