Oberursel
Urban development study town hall area
Urban densification of the town hall area with the aim of spatial and structural upgrading of the neighbourhood
In the competition entry, the town hall area in Oberursel was to be upgraded, the spatial and structural quality was to be increased through urban densification and the retail trade was to be strengthened through modern and generously proportioned retail spaces. The town hall was to be revitalised in stages in the course of the project.
CANZLER developed in competition a structure of 4 blocks which took up the variety of the desired uses. Existing road axes were extended and supplemented by the new ‘Rathauspassage‘. The ‘Neumarkt‘ should thus develop into an attractive square, which should allow different uses. An attractive location for senior citizens‘ housing was planned at the Stadthalle and parts of the area were designated as a traffic-calmed zone.
