University of Hamburg - New guest house

Project management in accordance with the almost complete service profile of AHO booklet 9 for project phases 4-5 for the new construction of the university guest house
The University of Hamburg built a new guest house in Hamburg's Rotherbaum district to accommodate guests of the university and to bring together people from the research sector. This complements the university's previous guest house in Rothenbaumchaussee, which opened in 1963. The new building, designed by Basel-based architects Buchner Bründler Architekten, contains 63 residential units of various sizes and communal areas for guests to meet and socialize. The plot of land of the existing sports facility will be used for the construction project and parts of it will be appropriated for the new "guest house" building. The site will be accessed via Feldbrunnenstrasse. The building comprises eight full storeys - the first floor and seven upper storeys - and is therefore classified as building class 5. The total of 63 residential units are designed as 1- to 3-room flats. There is a common room on each of the 2nd to 8th floors, which is intended to promote community and scientific exchange between the residents. The first floor houses the service rooms as well as an area for the concierge service, which partly looks after the needs of the international tenants. As project manager, CANZLER took on almost the entire scope of services from AHO booklet 9 for project phases 3-5 in the project and also developed the furniture concept and carried out the commissioning management.
