Peter-Ulrich-House

The Late Gothic building is one of the oldest edifices on Pirnaer Markt. It was erected in 1506 by famed architect Peter Ulrich and is the only surviving Gothic house in Germany. Given this unique status, it can be termed the very first architect-designed house in Germany. It stood vacant for years until in 2009 it was acquired by actor and cabaret artist Tom Pauls and designated for new tasks and usages. The heritage-listed core now boasts ultramodern lighting, media and stage technology along with the relevant building facilities. CANZLER was in charge of the planning and site supervision for all the trades involved in the technical equipment as regards realization of discerning interior architecture, barrier-free facilities and adherence to heritage requirements. After modernization was completed, the building now houses a small theater for 160 persons, a museum, a theater café, and art shop and an artist’s apartment.
