Merck - Facade renovation

The facades of two existing buildings on the Merk AG site in Darmstadt from 1981 and 1986 had to be renewed. In order to significantly reduce the noise level, a second layer of glass was hung in front of the inner facade. The solar shading was placed between the two facade layers and can now be used even at high wind speeds. A new horizontal band of glass along the floor slabs divides the facades. Storey-high windows and painted glass surfaces alternate between the bands. CANZLER planned the new facade, supervised the dismantling of the existing façade of V-shaped prefabricated reinforced concrete elements as well as the construction of the new facade.
