Marieneck

Modernization and extension to an historical and heritage building
The “Marieneck” ensemble on Pirnaer Marktplatz is over 400 years old and attests to the town’s history. Down through the centuries it has been an inn, a mint, and a brewery. Modernization included both a new inner courtyard design and a new build in order to create an attractive downtown residential ensemble in this way. The ensemble consists of residential units, commercial units and a brewery as well as a festival hall. CANZLER planned and monitored the building’s fit-out with ultra-modern, energy-saving facilities technology. A heat pump in combination with under-floor heating is used for heating and cooling. The entire plant relies on renewable energy source to spare resources. The focus in and realization was to integrate the new technology into the existing built substance with minimal changes thus heeding heritage requirements and doing justice to future users.
