Berlin Wall Memorial

Integrated overall planning of the technical equipment as well as the information and media technology.
Today, the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Strasse is the central site memorializing the division of Germany. On the grounds stands the last section of the Berlin Wall, with its original staggered line giving an impression of the structure of the border controls back then. In 2006, the Berlin Senate decided to expand the memorial, founded in 1990, in light of the ever-increasing interest in the history of the division of Germany and the Berlin Wall. As the central focus and information point an visitor center was built, which was opened in November 2009 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall. On behalf of the Berlin Senate Dept. of Urban Planning CANZLER handled the planning, tendering and site supervision for the technical equipment for the visitor center. Moreover, CANZLER planned all the elements of the information and a/v technology as well as the visitor counting system, and supervised implementation. In the further utilization phase, changes to the existing lighting control system in the event hall were planned and monitored in connection with the modification and expansion of the exhibition and basic lighting.
