The 2022 business year

18.07.2024

Despite the slump in the real estate market, CANZLER has increased its growth as planned to a fee volume of EUR 33 million in the 2023 financial year. This development is in line with the growth strategy of SOCOTEC Germany, which is consistently and successfully expanding its activities in the Construction & Real Estate segment. CANZLER, as a company of this group, contributes to this success with its services. CANZLER intends to set the course for SOCOTEC Germany's 2028 strategic plan this year.

CANZLER's traditional services for major projects such as Frankfurt Airport, federal buildings and the Berlin State Library continue to drive the company's success. Accordingly, planning services in the field of technical building equipment (TGA) account for around 60% of the fee volume. Thanks to the expansion of the architecture division, including the acquisition of the architecture firm Höhlich & Schmotz in January 2023, this division now accounts for around 20% of revenue. Further growth was achieved in project management services for office properties of large German corporations. In FM consulting, there continues to be strong demand for auditing and quality assurance services, for example for a global portfolio on behalf of Munich Ergo Assetmanagement GmbH (MEAG).

On course for success with increased architectural expertise

As a result of the expanded architectural expertise, the number of general planning projects has increased noticeably. In this respect, turnover amounts to around 30 %, which corresponds to around 50 % of total architectural services and 20 % of TGA services. Through the successful integration of Höhlich & Schmotz with its two locations in Burgdorf (Hanover) and Mainz, CANZLER has added many years of expertise in the field of public buildings (daycare centers, schools, town halls and municipal buildings) to its existing expertise in commercial/private construction. With the new administrative building for the Ingelheim district administration, CANZLER has created a flagship project in ecological timber hybrid construction. Its quality was recently recognized with an award from the Rhineland-Palatinate Timber Construction Prize. The team of architects is also planning further timber construction projects such as a new school building in Göttingen.

"Our strong diversification with different service profiles and sustainability expertise across the entire real estate industry has been a guarantee of our successful business development for years," comments Andreas Masiorek, Managing Director of CANZLER GmbH. "This helps us to maintain our growth trajectory even in challenging market conditions."

Forecast 2024

"We are optimistic about this year's results. Although 2023 was characterized by considerable challenges such as a shortage of skilled workers or rising energy costs, together we managed to increase our sales in all companies of SOCOTEC Germany and thus also at CANZLER. Thanks to the exceptional commitment and outstanding performance of our employees and their expertise, we have created a solid basis for successfully overcoming challenges again this year," says Ludger Speier, CEO SOCOTEC Germany.

For 2024, the company primarily wants to tighten internal structures, strengthen cooperation within the SOCOTEC Group in all areas and, as a visible measure, relocate the Burgdorf office to Hanover in order to occupy a strategically better location in the capital of Lower Saxony. "We have grown rapidly in recent years with the help of external acquisitions," says Managing Director colleague Michael Nolte. "As a result, areas of responsibility need to be reorganized internally in order to tackle the next growth steps within the SOCOTEC Group."
