CANZLER is planning the updating of in-house technology for the new “Sky Sport HQ” broadcasting studio for Sky Deutschland.

The sports broadcasting center that went operational in July 2017 is located in a building used hitherto by the ZDF channel. The goal: to replace technology where necessary and devise a special spatial/technological solution for broadcasting operations.

The new sports broadcasting center provides 4,600 m² of space including 1,450 m² with a total of three studios. Two of the studios are sized 600 m² each, one is used for the open football conference. There are also offices and technical rooms. The concept CANZLER devised for the technical plant and equipment included planning waste water, water, gas and heating supplies, ventilation, fire extinguishing equipment and building automation. CANZLER was also in charge of the tendering, the award and monitored the fit-out.

To enable operational turn-key in summer 2017, the IT areas were readied ahead of time. Thus, all conversion and upgrading measures had to take place around a dust-free space. “As regards the equipment in the broadcasting studios, we replaced components in order to enhance energy efficiency. On the roof, the latest HVAC plant replaces the old devices,” explains Dr. Gerhard Braunmiller, head of CANZLER’s Munich office.

Since broadcasting operations do not allow for any interruption by noise from the HVAC system, CANZLER developed a special spatial/technological solution for the voice recording cabins: “The HVAC was given special inlets and outlets with integrated telephony noise insulation to reduce overall noise levels such that the benchmark set by the acoustic engineers for sound recordings were met,” reports Ingo Bensch, CANZLER project manager on the standards, which are only rarely encountered as regards technical plant and equipment.
