DOs & DON'Ts of good workplace projects


As they used to say in math exams: QED Quod erat demonstrandum. The discussion about the most important Dos and DON'Ts of workplace projects showed very vividly what pitfalls lie in the open spaces and how important it is to answer the question of how many workstations will be needed for video calls/hybrid meetings in the future. And also that the very pleasant noise cancelling headphones are not a cure for this.

However, after we have shown this emphatically, we will record the most important points here:

- First WORK, then PLACE: Nothing is as important as a clear definition of goals at the beginning. First comes the definition of the desired collaboration model and then the derivation of the spatial requirements.
- Change management starts up front and from the beginning - teams know what they need.
- "Homework" that should be done BEFORE the first draft is the exact needs analysis (and that methodically, counted and mirrored in workshops with stakeholders and multipliers), the development of a viable utilization concept, the evaluation of the options for action with the existing spaces - and then, only then can it go hand in hand to the design and investment planning!

- Small intrasparent teams, which brood over plans in the quiet chamber - not a good idea.
- Continue as before - basically this is not an option anyway.
- Saving on the acoustician - better not.
