Passenger Capacity Frankfurt Airport

Tasks and Solutions

Expansion of passenger capacity through conversion of several gate areas while ensuring uninterrupted airport operations

Kind of Object and Use

Gates in Terminal 1, Frankfurt Airport

At Frankfurt Airport increasing passenger rates required adaptions and expansions of the existing structural and technical facilities to expand the capacity of several gates.

As part of the construction projekt, "New entry in the B50er Gates - Short Connex Service Center (SCSC)," standards were established with the goal in mind to develop a system for more rapid check-in and check-out of the passengers.
In addition, a new configuration of passenger service was developed and implemented: the so-called „SCSC“ (Short Connex Service Center).

Special demands were placed on construction logistics and internal project controlling because the conversion was accomplished during ongoing airport operations.

Furthermore, the compliance of specific planning policies of the airport operator Fraport AG and the coordination of a variety of interface projects were necessary to be ensured.

As general planner of the project “New entry B50iger Gates - SCSC" Canzler was responsible for all maintenance groups of technical equipment.
