Integration of HÖHLICH & SCHMOTZ Architects

31.01.2023

CANZLER has acquired 100 percent of the Burgdorf/ Hannover and Mainz-based architectural firm Höhlich & Schmotz as of the end of 2022. CANZLER is thus increasing its capacities in the field of architecture and expanding its spectrum in terms of types of use and public sector clients.

With 30 employees, Höhlich & Schmotz plans and manages administrative buildings, schools, sports halls and daycare centers for public clients on the one hand; on the other hand, innovative office buildings, retail properties as well as gastronomy and retail areas for the private sector. Among the most renowned projects are the climate-friendly new building in timber construction of the district administration Mainz-Bingen, the Innovation Campus Sennheiser in Wedemark or the Rossmann headquarters in Burgwedel.

CANZLER has made its largest acquisition to date with Höhlich & Schmotz, thus doubling its capacities in the field of architecture and general planning. With the expansion of its expertise and regional presence, CANZLER continues to consistently pursue its growth strategy. The two owners and name givers, Dirk Höhlich and Andreas Schmotz, will continue to work as senior executives at CANZLER, driving the continuation of existing projects as well as the acquisition of new ones.

"The acquisition of Höhlich & Schmotz offers great growth potential for CANZLER in the field of architecture and general planning and in the direction of public clients, where our focus has so far been on specialized planning of technical building equipment," comments Michael Nolte, one of CANZLER's managing directors. "In addition, with the new office in Hannover/ Burgdorf, we are strengthening our regional presence in one of the most important locations for the real estate industry in Lower Saxony. In Mainz, the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, on the other hand, there will be close cooperation with our Frankfurt office," says Nolte.

Dirk Höhlich adds: "With our entire team, we will complement the CANZLER planning and consulting office very well in many types of use and bring our many years of expertise in the field of architecture and object planning to strengthen the service portfolio at CANZLER. We also expect the demand for new construction and renovation projects for public use buildings to continue to grow in the coming years."

With a focus on the international development strategy, acquisitions will also strengthen SOCOTEC's further growth and market positioning in Germany in 2023.
